Travelshift | Taking a SaaS platform to the top of Google
The travel industry is fiercely competitive, and getting noticed online means going up against some of the biggest names in the business. At Travelshift, a company developing SaaS marketplace technology for travel businesses, I helped turn content into a serious competitive advantage. Combining industry research, keyword targeting and an ambitious editorial strategy, I developed content that spoke to the needs of travel entrepreneurs and operators while competing for valuable industry-wide searches. The work brought together two things I particularly enjoy: understanding an industry in depth and using that knowledge to create content with a clear commercial purpose.
Building relevance & authority
I spent four years developing and executing a content marketing campaign for Travelshift, a travel marketplace software startup based in Iceland.
The aim was to get the company to rank for certain key terms and phrases, mostly related to travel marketplaces, marketplace software and tourism booking engines.
Ranking on Google has become more and more about relevance. So the logical question was: How could we become as relevant as possible to our target market?
The solution was to publish engaging, timely and informative content about the travel industry as a whole, the challenges facing Travelshift’s ICP and the relationship between travel and technology.
But there was one key caveat. The articles had to be in-depth and written with SEO in mind. That was the best way to provide value to our audience, build a loyal following and generate plenty of inbound links.
Building credibility & relevance
My work with Travelshift ranks among my most successful content marketing projects. As well as ranking at the top on Google for our target search terms, Travelshift now gets countless inbound leads as a result of those foundations. Want to go on a similar journey? Get in touch!
