Totaljobs | SEO content that stands the test of time

Getting to the first page of Google is one thing. Staying there is another. For Totaljobs Group, one of the UK's biggest online recruitment businesses, I developed SEO-focused career advice designed to compete for valuable search terms against established publishers, educational institutions and government websites.

The brief called for thorough research, an understanding of search intent and accessible writing. The resulting articles secured page-one rankings for key queries, with content remaining live and appearing across multiple Totaljobs Group brands years after its original publication.

Winning competitive search

The recruitment industry is an incredibly competitive search environment. Millions of people turn to Google for advice. For a business like Totaljobs, capturing that interest creates valuable opportunities to introduce prospective candidates to its recruitment platforms.

My work focused on developing comprehensive, search-optimised guides that answered important career questions in plain English. That meant getting beyond basic keyword placement to understand what readers actually needed: practical explanations, reliable information and answers to the questions likely to shape their next steps.

The results demonstrated the long-term value of well-researched, search-led content. Articles achieved first-page visibility for competitive queries, with several remaining published more than four years later and content syndicated across three Totaljobs Group brands.

From a commercial perspective, this kind of evergreen content can do more than attract visitors. It helps recruitment platforms reach people early in their career decision-making process, establish trust through genuinely useful advice and create opportunities to move readers towards relevant vacancies and other services.

Value maintained for years after publication

This kind of project is a good example of the approach I take to SEO: combining thorough research, editorial quality and commercial intent to create content that earns its place in search results - and continues to deliver value long after publication.
